about you have been judged .com

I first conceived of this site because of my disappointment and frustration with the Blackberry Storm. After a visit for help and therapy at a Verizon store while driving home I saw a woman conversing with another woman on the side of the road. Without even looking at what she was doing she threw the water bottle she just emptied into the street with unconcious muscle memory deliberation. That was the moment youhavebeenjudged.com was born.

purpose

I like to judge things. You could call me judgmental. However I like to think of myself as fair and open minded. I recognize that my judgments are circumstantial, emotional, and ephemeral. Youhavebeenjudged.com was designed expecting that you would judge something harshly one day and forgive it the next. It was designed to accept many judgments for each target from the same person under the assumption that you can actually love and hate something.

Lurking behind the short attention span interface however is a plan. As the verdicts, evidence, and remedy's stack the system will begin contacting entities to let them know what you think. Youhavebeenjudged.com hopes to be a shiny ball of thank you to those people/entities/things that are good in the world. Conversely it also hopes to be a helpful nudge (or a wakeup call) to those people/entities/things that are failing. Behind the lighthearted (sometimes mean spirited) fun there is a plan.

However I have other more selfish motives. I hope to meet people like minded folks who enjoyed the site and might be interested in persuing other creative, healthy, or revolutionary projects on and offline. We'll see.

roadmap

The site is currently officially in beta. Namely because it isn't done but I need help testing it and filling it with the beautiful and harsh judgments of the world. While I await your judgments and notes I continue

pressing matters

  • Target of the Week
  • fix/improve grammar AI
    • using Google serp count e.g. "'phrase' is" VS "'phrase' are"
    • if that fails the AI is improved but still weak
  • short links (like is.gd or bit.ly)
  • mobile version (pretty much done)
  • facebook connect (almost done: GRRR)

features/improvements

  • follow/subscribe-ish feature to track interesting judges on your home page
  • auto detect sentiment of verdicts and emotions
  • auto contact targets of interest
  • add links/media/other attached to targets/judgments
  • pictures and video

adds to the fun of it all

  • bookmarklet
  • facebook app
  • API
  • mobile app

wanna help?

I would like to meet a programmer(s) interested in working countless hours on creative sites and projects (for profit and otherwise). I have many other online projects I would like to see created that are beyond my abilities or schedule alone as do you. I would like to convert this site to rails (I think) but am open to the right solutions with the right people.

I need moderators to help keep this site from devolving into a pit of mindless vitriol and bad grammar.

I am also looking to meet people who are making a better world. I'm not sure I know what that means, but there is so much wrong I figure just doing something "right" might be the answer. How are you making a better world? How can I help? I'm sick of working all the time in the pursuit of paying the bills to many entities I deem questionable in the first place. Let's do something and laugh.

misc.

I have done my best to make this site accessible and standards compliant.
